This is the collaborative site for the International Vaccines Codes Initiative.

Its purpose is to share information about the vaccine code sets used globally, create supporting resources, and build and operate a pivot international ontology (set of related concepts) that can be used to digitize and share any vaccination history.

This ontology can also serve to map the codes for specific vaccine products to more general code systems for medicinal products, suited to serve transversal purposes such as logistics (e.g. GTIN) or pharmacovigilance (e.g. WHODrug).

The baseline for building this pivot representation is the [[NUVA]] unified nomenclature of vaccines, that gathers the concepts from many existing code systems and enrich them with a description of the vaccines as containers for valences, used to navigate across the levels of abstraction that may exist in the original code systems.
